The international art community will unite this weekend, December 5-8, in Miami Beach! As a midway point between North America and Latin America, the Basel Art Show will take place at the Convention Center in Miami Beach, serving as a perfect meeting spot for this time of year. Over 250 of the world’s best and leading galleries will showcase their premiere artwork from around the globe.
The first Basel Miami was in 2002, and each year since the art show consistently brings in over 50,000 visitors. Art Basel was started in the 1970’s by a group of gallerists in Basel, Switzerland. 40 years later- today, Basel is held in Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong with gallerists from across the globe showing only the highest quality international art and artists. This year’s Miami Basel will include musicians and visual artists working together at the same time. Some star artists to look for this year include renowned graffiti artist Banksy, the awesome Mr. Brainwash, new Justin McAllister and more!
The rest of the Miami art community will also be celebrating Basel. The event has 100’s of other galleries, clubs, restaurants, museums and more in Miami hosting openings and events. Join in the celebration with parties, music, shows and more such as David Lynch’s brainchild of a nightclub, Silencio hosted by Pharrell Williams, Lady Gaga’s The Gaga Foundation Dinner Gala at the Playboy Plaza Hotel, Bushwick Gone Basel featuring 25 top but unheard of Brooklyn artists, VH1 + Scope Party, “Affiliated: Art of the Urban Experince” at Brisky Gallery and a whole lot of other late night events that are so worth it if you can find the ticket!
Tickets can be bought online or at the door: a day ticket is $42 and evening is $32, with student and senior discounts available for just $26. Children are welcome with an adult.
Basel will be open to the public Thursday December 5, 2013 through Saturday December 7, 2013 from 12pm to 8pm and Sunday December 8, 2013 from 12pm to 6pm.
