The wait is over! About one month after the festival has ended, Mysteryland has released their aftermovie! The scenes are absolutely beautiful and, if you were there, will make you wish you could go “home” again. The festival was definitely unique, bringing together not only an assortment of EDM, but also interactive art, spirituality, culture, and more. Moby has a great quote in the short film from his sit down with fans, “I love music festivals… but I’m much more interested in festivals that can integrate music and arts, music and culture and music and spirituality.” I’m happy to see that many of our top ten moments also made it into the movie– such as Moby’s talk, the opening ceremony, Sin Salida, and more!
In the opening of the video, I do love that they called to attention the community of Bethel Woods, interviewing community members who were there at the original Woodstock. Having done about five on-site interviews, I can tell you that the history of the spot was on the tip of every artists’ tongue.
“Even though the music is different and we don’t really know if they would appreciate this kind of music. I think the vibe is the same and the reason why we are here is the same and it is about the community and the love and the revolution of kids expressing themselves through music with music.” –BRILLZ
Though I’m sure it is insanely hard to pick and choose what goes into the 5 minute video (how can you possibly condense a weekend of awesomeness into five minutes?!), house and techno fans will be a little sad to see that the Spiegeltent, which was an awesome indoor stage with a sideshow circus-like theme, and Sunday School, which featured morphed buses, are not in the video. However, a lot did make it in and the videographers can definitely pat themselves on the back– they did a beautiful job trying to recap this most amazing and historic of festivals.
