Paracutá Releasing New Single “Mary Bell” From Upcoming Selftitled Album
After writing the original music for Peruvian film Rocanrol 68, New York based alternative rock band Paracutá is set to release their first full length record. The album is due in January. As a preview, the band is released their first single “Mary Bell” on Friday, October 30th.
“Our past projects, especially music for film, were always done under external creative direction. On this record, we showcase who we really are, exploring our influences in a deeper way in combination with all we learned from working for others.” – guitarist Ernesto Lucar.
“Writing for film has taught us to give musical context to a good story. ‘Mary Bell’, for instance, is about a murder that occurred in England in the 1960’s, told from the killer’s perspective. We reinforce that perspective with the music–which is somewhat dark and somewhat insane. We want the listener to have an experience.” – lead vocalist Caroline Feldmeier.
The band was selected for Premios Platino del Cine Latinoamericano for Best Original Music for their work on Rocanrol 68.They were also invited to perform at the inaugural Latino and Native American Film Festival at Southern Connecticut State University.
Paracutá recorded and produced the album in their studio in Astoria, Queens. The album was mixed by Kieran Kelly (Sufjan Stevens, John Stirratt).
