Party Friday: New Music From Snow Angel, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, and Pet Sun
Rounding off our inconsistent music column is none other than Gabriel Garzón-Montano. You might remember Garzón-Montano after hearing Drake’s “Jungle,” where the Canadian rapper sampled the former’s “6 8.” The Brooklyn-based singer just announced his upcoming debut album, Jardin, via Stones Throw Records with lead single “Sour Mango” giving listeners a taste of what’s to come. Delectably bittersweet, Garzón-Montano sings of potential love lost and wishful thinking that their former flame is somewhere thinking of them too. Right there with you.
Jardin will be out January 27! Pre-order now to get a slice of “Sour Mango.”
Journeying with us is Pet Sun, whose latest music video “Free Season,” is a trip to the 90’s. Fans nostalgic for the sound of Oasis can look no further as this garage band effortlessly blends hooks and riffs seamlessly. Lifted from their self-titled LP (released earlier this year), the self-proclaimed ‘rock ‘n roll heathens’ provided a glimpse of softness with this particular acoustic power ballad. It’s quite the nice track, once you lay down and stare at the ceiling, soaking in a little Pet Sun.
Pet Sun’s self-titled LP is available now!
The world needs a dose of positive energy and Snow Angel is more than happy to provide that. In a delightful and radiant video shot on a GoPro, “Big Group Hug” suggests just that — to celebrate friendship and love and positivity. And the world does indeed need that in a time of turmoil when all seems bleak. This six piece group undoubtedly lift spirits and will most definitely “flip that frown.”
Snow Angel will unveil their full length album album on December 2.
