Perpetual Groove Announces Two Florida Dates
Attention PGroove fans: book your flights and plan your trips now. Perpetual Groove has announced a two-night run on July 31st and August 1st at the State Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida. This is the second round of event announcements from the band, which added St. Petersburg to a growing, but limited, list of appearances scheduled for 2015. The Athens, Georgia-based band has been on hiatus since April 2013, and it brings great joy to me and countless other fans to see this band once again fill the void in our ears and our hearts left by their absence.
For almost two decades, this quartet has been mesmerizing fans all over the world through the combined forces of Brock Butler (guitar, vocals), Adam Perry (bass, vocals), Matt Mcdonald (keyboards, vocals), and Albert Suttle (drums). They create a distinct sound that ranges from from electronica to R&B to progressive rock and has spanned over five albums and a 2010 EP. The video below, made when PGroove opened their set at AURA 2013 with a cover of “All My Friends” by LCD Soundsystem, tugs at my heartstrings. Where will your friends be July 31st and August 1st? I know where mine will be.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow, February 26th, at 12pm EST. If you have any desire to go, I would suggest that you be close to a computer around lunchtime tomorrow, as tickets to the band’s May two-night run at the Georgia Theatre sold out in minutes. There is still no word on where tickets will be available for purchase, other than hints on the band’s Facebook. If you’re unable to make the trek down south this summer, PGroove will be making it’s only 2015 festival appearance at Resonance Music and Arts Festival September 24th-26th in Kirkersville, Ohio.
