Saturday, Promo Code: Cloak & Dagger Music Festival (Denver)
The first ever Cloak & Dagger Music Festival will be bringing a great selection of house and other electronic music (but mainly house) to 4 different rooms at mega-club City Hall (Broadway & 12th Ave) and the more intimate Vinyl (1 block South on Broadway & 11th Ave). The night is brought to you by Denver’s house music aficionados The Hundred as well as Awesome Factory, Souls In Action and Euphonic Conceptions. The promo code to get $35 tickets is down below, and I’ll be doing my best to cover more of the artists appearing at Cloak & Dagger as the date of this amazing electronic night gets closer.
Insightful (Soulbeats) 6pm City Hall Amphitheater Soundcloud Facebook
Starting off the evening in a different direction however is Insightful who is taking the soulbeats style we’ve been hearing all summer from Flume & Chet Faker to a more atmospheric tip. This should be perfect warm up stuff to start off the night. Check out this mix of Drake’s ‘Too Much’:
Golf Clap (Detroit House) 7pm City Hall Amphitheater Soundcloud Facebook
If you’re in the mood for some straight-up house, Detroit duo Golf Clap have the tools to play any size set or room. Their Facebook also just put me onto this killer tune:
Cashmere Cat (trap) & Justin Martin (deep house) Closers in City Hall Amphitheatre, Vinyl
Norwegian turntablist-turned producer Cashmere Cat is closing the Amphitheater at City Hall, while DirtyBird’s main man Justin Martin rips it up over at Vinyl. Have a listen to these mixes and decide which one you’re more interested in. Expect big room trap cuts from Cash, he’s been a favourite of juggernauts Hudson Mohawke and Rustie recently, while JM will favour us with the deepest of deep house sets.

London producer Gigamesh scored a few huge hits over the past couple of years, particularly with his remix of Pumped up Kicks. In the vein of some of the UK’s superstar producers like GRUM and Hey Champ, expect more sexy funky dancy house tracks.
Directly afterwords is another new favorite of mine: Moon Boots. Chicago raised, Berlin educated, and Brooklyn based Moon Boots mixes disco, psychelelic, indie, and R&B into some amazing nu-disco sets. His meticulous style reminds me of the French house artists of the 2000’s (which makes sense as he’s on French Express, a label that sounds very fracophone but I can’t tell if they’re based in Paris or LA).
From there you’ll have to choose if you want to head back to soul in the Ampitheater finish that set or go listen to Sango play more interesting broken beats
