Radius Brings New Chapter Of Live Music To Chicago
For those who attend live music regularly, a music venue is a place of memories. Some of the best nights of our lives happen in beloved spaces all over the world. A new venue opens the door to new memories and the start of a new musical era in any given city. Chicago is one of the best cities in the world for music, and the city is filled with places to catch live music. With the closing of venues such as the Congress Theater and the Mid in recent years, the city is ready for a new chapter of live music. Today, we’re happy to announce a new venue to open in early 2020 called Radius. Here at Sensible Reason, we’ve been following the music scene in Chicago for half a decade, and we’re excited to see what is to come of this new chapter of music.
Radius is a brand-new independently owned and operated music venue coming to Chicago in early 2020. The 55,000 square foot multipurpose event space, primarily focused on music, has a capacity ranging from 2,500 to 3,800 people. The venue is equipped with a state of the art D&B KSL sound system, exceptional acoustics, a mezzanine level to host VIP guests/packages, lavish artist lounges, a spacious outdoor smoking section, and nine full-sized bars where guests can indulge in craft beers and specialized cocktails. In addition to the music venue, Radius also includes a 10,000 square foot multi-purpose event space with its own entrance. This allows for pre and post-event experiences, private parties, and even weddings.
“We were looking for a scalable, multi-purpose venue space to house a state of the art concert facility to modern art and design elements at the forefront, and we’ve created it with Radius. This project has been 4 years in the making and we are beyond excited to show Chicago and the rest of the world what we have built for music lovers of all genres.” – Nick Karounos, owner and operator of Radius and of PRYSM Nightclub, the Mid, and Concord Music Hall
So many music venues are owned by large companies and therefore have a skewed repertoire of which touring artists come through that space. Radius is bound to be a place to find a diverse set of music in a spacious venue. A place for new music and new memories. The first set of concerts at Radius are out now, and tickets go on sale tomorrow, December 13th at 12 PM CST. Among the first artists to hit Radius include Dillon Francis, Carl Cox, Tchami, Lil Wayne, Killswitch Engage, Alkaline Trio, Bad Religion, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard with more to be announced. Based on this initial lineup, we’re bound to see music from all genres at Radius, an homage to the diversity of Chicago.
Radius is located in Chicago’s East Pilsen neighborhood, recently named one of the coolest neighborhoods in the world by Time Out. In tune with the feel of the neighborhood, Radius also showcases colorful murals from Lefty Out There, Thank You X, and NYCHOS with which the neighborhood is known. The venue is just south of The Loop bordering Chinatown with easy access off I-90/94. Those using public transportation or ridesharing will find it easy to access Radius via the Halstead 8 Bus, Cermak 21 Bus, and the Orange/Red/Green lines.
There is an unmistakable excitement that comes from a new music venue. Radius builds on the backbone of some of the coolest venues already operating in Chicago. We know those behind the scenes are passionate about bringing this booming city new memories for music lovers of all genres.
