Railroad Earth Performs at The Space in Westbury, Long Island
This past Saturday, Railroad Earth played a jaw dropping set at the new venue The Space, located in Westbury, NY on Long Island. The band, consisting of a total of six members, performed a rock & roll-meets-bluegrass with an essence of Jam style of music. Although the first set started out slow, the high-energy crowd quickly raised the intensity of the entire show. The audience, consisting of people who traveled from all over the country, were heavily dancing and putting out an overall happy and mellow vibe. Railroad Earth played two outrageous sets totaling over three hours long. During the first set, Railroad Earth played, “Grandfather Mountain” from their newest album The Last of the Outlaws. During the set break, many members of the audience were excitedly talking about the new song calling it, “sweet and jingly.” The band had strong vocals and a full sound, but what stood out most was the impressive assortment of instruments that were played: mandolin, slide guitar, Bango, keyboards, and violin! During the second set, band member Andy Goessling even played two saxophones simultaneously!
Railroad Earth head back to the East Coast in February after heading a little further south and west of hear. Check out the full list of tour dates here: http://railroadearth.com/tourdates/
The venue, The Space at Westbury, has only been open for the past two months and could be described as having everything new, but with old school charm. The Space at Westbury was beautifully decorated with a deep color scheme and large chandeliers giving off a classy, New York City venue feel, but with the friendliness and relaxation of a festival. The venue was clean, had extremely friendly staff, offers affordable ticket pricing, two full bars, and options of either seating or general admission. The events manager, Bruce Michael, was excited to have Railroad Earth as their first jam band experience and promised many great acts to come including, Lotus, Galactic, and Shpongle just in the next upcoming months! Check out the venue’s website here for upcoming shows!
