Are you ready for ten more years of Electric Forest?
That’s right, on September 2nd Norm Halbower from Antler Group Amusements confirmed the 10 year deal with festival promoter AEG/Madison House, which have yet to comment on the new deal.
“I can assure you that there will be a festival next year,” Halbower said. “Part of my reasoning is they have had representatives going through our forest checking trees and doing preliminary stuff like they do every year.”
Earlier this year there was a slim chance that Progressive Resorts LLC could have reclaimed the ranch, but the group could not raise the $7 million owed Antler Bar Amusements. This put the future of the festival at risk because another promotion company called SFX, the promoter for Tomorrowworld and other high production festivals, were showing some serious interest in the transfer of ownership. If the ownership changed the contracts with AEG/Madison House could have been considered void which means the festival would have been up for grabs, which some worried would have changed the integrity of Electric Forest.
Worry no more, now that the deal has been struck with the same promoters then money can be reinvested for improvements. David Alvarez, ABA general manager, confirmed that since May the festival grounds have seen more than $2.4 million in improvements. The money gained from this festival significantly helps out the ranch, including major improvements to the cabins on the back forty and the water park.
The only threat to the Electric experience are the opinions and votes of local municipalities. They must approve a mass gathering permit, which was passed last year on a split vote, which allows for the forest to host the Electric family. We can help increase those odds by respecting the area in which it is held, respecting the towns where we stop and get supplies, and by simply contacting the board members to thank them for having us as their guests during the festival.
Sensible Reason has been covering Electric Forest extensively, check out our experience this year here. See you next year Sherwood.
