All of the Reasons Why You Need To Get On the Bounce Boat This Summer!
Beautiful people, beautiful vibes, beautiful scenery, and a whole lot of bass – that is the best and most complete way that I can describe the atmosphere of the Bounce Boat. These nautical nights of nonsense on the Hudson River have returned to New York City in a huge way this year, and summer is only beginning. If you haven’t sailed on the Hornblower Infinity in 2014, let me tell you all the reasons why you need to.
First things first, the talent that Bounce Boat puts together is consistently dope. With names like Rusko, Chainsmokers, Subset and Infuze hitting the decks on previous voyages, it’s safe to say that Bounce Media Group knows how to put a lineup together. The last Bounce Boat party was headlined by Dubstep powerhouse Funtcase, with support from the always scintillating Victor Niglio, and LA-based dynamo Schoolboy. On Friday the 13th, this trio of DJs trounced the main stage of the Horn Blower infinity with three high-energy sets that weaved between genres and styles for a night of floating anarchy.
After delaying the ship’s departure due to inclement weather and rampant traffic delays, Schoolboy started things off with an unapologetic flair that reminded me of the raucous style of Knife Party and definitely caught the crowd’s attention. Victor Niglio really turned up the heat with a sweltering set that had everything from Miami bass music to hardstyle and even a Latin infused remix of Rick James’ “Super Freak.” Funtcase lived up to his hype as one of the best new names in bass music, with a performance that shook the Bounce Boat from bow to stern. The U.K. DJ guided his audience on a journey through his progression as an artist, from his earlier drum & bass days prior to becoming Funtcase, to his newer releases off of Flux Pavilion’s highly esteemed Circus Records.
Another reason the Bounce Boat parties are awesome is how huge the boat actually is. If you want to check out different sounds and maybe switch up your scenery, that can be easily done. With three stages bumping simultaneously, there is always a different vibe and energy to experience while you float down the Hudson. There aren’t many parties where you can two-step to deep house in one room, stomp to dubstep in another, and groove to disco on the roof. On the Hornblower Infinity you can do all of those things in style. Speaking of style, did I mention how flossy the decor of the ship is? Whether you’re on the main dance floor or sitting up in VIP, the facilities of the Horn Blower Infinity are phenomenal. With full LED lighting systems, lush and spacious areas to sit and chill, and, of course, fully stocked bars, Bounce Boat keeps the party cruising in class. The entire staff aboard the Horn Blower Infinity is extremely polite and helpful as well. If you need anything during your trip, they are more than happy to accommodate you and that is a feature of these parties that shouldn’t go unnoticed.
The most important factor to any good party is always the crowd, and the partygoers on the Bounce Boat have been consistently awesome. So far, each installment of these parties have been stocked with classy, diverse and all around interesting people. A good party series needs to instill a sense of community and respect amongst its frequent guests, and the Bounce Boat definitely has that. There’s nothing better than running into old friends or missed festival connections randomly as you sail around the city on a luxury yacht. Even if you come alone, the Bounce Boat is a perfect place to practice that time honored tradition known simply as mingling, and trust me, you are going to find some awesome shipmates to spend your night with.
If sailing around one of the most beautiful cities in the world while meeting awesome people and listening to fresh music on the nautical equivalent of a Maybach isn’t enough for you, then just check out the Bounce Boat’s July calendar and tell me you don’t want to see what all the hype is about this summer. The next Bounce Boat cruise is on July 11th, and will feature hip-hop mastermind Just Blaze, Chicago-based party starter Willy Joy, melodic bass music savant Minnesota, and the incredibly eclectic Buku, for an absolutely absurd night on the river. You can grab your tickets for this event here, and be sure to check out the rest of the parties scheduled for July!
