Re~Imagined: Catskill Chill Edition
We all have a few places that we hold near and dear to our hearts; one of mine is nestled in the Catskill Mountains. Catskill Chill had me in its grasp as soon as the line up dropped! Even with a lineup that had The Meter Men with Page McConnell, Galactic, Lotus, Lettuce, Solaris, Cabinet, Fikus, OL, Brothers Past, Dopadosio, and so many more, I had no idea what was in store for me.
There is a reason that they call it Catskill Chill, and I experienced it first hand. As soon as I arrived, I could feel the outside world’s problems slip away. I let all my cares go with every breath of fresh air I took in. For the first time in a long time, my mind, body and soul were all relaxed at the same time.
Everyday I sat down by the lake and daydreamed while I had my coffee. It’s here where “Re~Imagined” started to come to fruition. I would think about all the sets that were going to pop off that day, and decide on what sets to photograph. I would think about Imaginationoverload and wonder how I could take it to another level. My imagination started coming alive again. These daydreams flowed into ideas that turned into plans by the festival’s end.
It took me a couple months to figure out exactly what I wanted to accomplish with taking the art that I create from the concert photos I take and blending the two together. I had no idea if anyone besides myself would even dig it or get it. So after hemming and hawing, I sent the first one I completed to my dear friend Greg. I knew I could trust his opinion and that he would keep it under wraps until I was ready. After a positive response, the Mike Rempel photo was sent to another friend, who then dubbed this project “Re~Imagined.” Thank you, Josh.
