Re~Imagined – Glass Edition
After finishing up my Catskill Chill Re~Imagined project I was unsure as to what my next Re~Imagined project would be. I wanted it to be different; I wanted it to be challenging. I needed it be refreshing and inspire me to push deeper into my imagination. I started going through my archives, digging into memories of past adventures, in hopes to spark an idea, but nothing seemed right for it. Finally, I realized if I wanted to accomplish everything I wanted it wasn’t going to come from my past work — but it needed to be a fresh set of photos.
I started exploring ideas of what I could do during the middle of winter and the frigid temperatures. I found myself thinking back to my earliest exposure to art. Growing up in Corning, NY, that art was glass. Every year we took a field trip to The Corning Museum of Glass, took a tour of the museum and watched gaffers blow glass. The further I strolled down memory lane, I knew this was exactly what I wanted for the next Re~Imagined project!
So I bundled up and made the walk over to CMOG. Once there I was told my favorite room was not open due to the construction of the new wing. Daunted by this news, I almost didn’t go in. But then I thought what the heck, I spent all that time getting my gear packed and getting myself excited about the idea of exploring the museum — so I bought my admission ticket and set off to explore the world of glass!
