‘Road to Camp Bisco’- Doug Machado
I never understood true, liberating freedom through music until I became introduced to Camp Bisco. My first visit to Camp Bisco was in the summer of 2010, and I was instantly swept up in the vibe of togetherness and unity that I felt as I entered the event gates. From the sunshine to the open air, to the throngs of smiling, care-free people dancing both young and old, to the thumping rhythms and driving beats from each stage, I immediately knew that I had encountered a magical environment that I would forever call home.
Last year marked my return to Camp Bisco, and second year consecutively. Not only was I better prepared camping-wise, but I came back with a deeper appreciation for the crowds, and the sights and sounds. My heart was solidly transfixed. My highlight of last year’s Camp Bisco was the privilege of seeing, for the first time ever in the U.S., Shpongle LIVE; my number one, all-time favorite electronica/psytrance act. I was enthralled, I was in my element, I felt a sense of inner completion last year that only Camp Bisco can provide.
And now with much excitement and enthusiasm, I will be returning this summer for year three, consecutively, and with unparalleled ferver. For the first time in my Camp Bisco run, I have purchased VIP tickets and I am beside myself with the opportunity to make my three-day experience that much more intimate. I have yet to hear a line-up announcement, but in my dancing heart it’s pretty irrelevent. I know that no matter who may grace the stage at Camp Bisco 11, Camp Bisco will always give to me the freedom, the love, the laughter, the new friendships, and of course, the music, that will last and grow and continue to inspire every facet of my life. Thank you Camp Bisco…
