Daft Punk Futures: Possible Tour/New Album
In the world of Daft Punk fandom the robot rumor mill is constantly churning. The secretive persona Guy and Thomas hold to on-stage have influenced how the duo has been promoted and advertised to the world. As a result, fans take it upon themselves to fill in the gaps as best they can. The speculative future of Daft Punk has a certain gravitas in that, it can be assumed reality will surpass expectations.
Since Random Access Memories was released two years ago, fans have eagerly awaited the announcement of a world tour. In the two years that have passed, the anticipation has only grown. Without any dates yet known there may be, in the meantime, some more than interesting happenings to come.
A remix album for RAM with the purported title of ‘Read Only Memory’ or ROM has been rumored. Supposedly ready for release and comprised of RAM fully remixed by the Robots themselves and including other remixes by fellow innovators in electronic music both new and old.
A recent and possibly more profound whisper grew legs from a post of a Daft Punk event poster by Paul Johnson, an early influence on the two. That set the stage for the following, hopefully, revealing exchange.
Both a new house album and the posited ROM remix album would make any fan’s day in their own right- add that to RAM and their multitude of past hits. Put it in a live show and you would make any fan’s year, or possibly their decade.
There are two live albums amongst Daft Punk’s releases. The first recording came from a U.K. appearance in 1997 and the second from a 2007 performance in Paris. If past protocol repeats, 2017 may be the next year the Robots come Alive.
