Shambhala Music Festival Drops Tremendous Lineup For 2015!
With hundreds of music festivals to choose from this summer and seemingly countless more springing up every season, it’s important to find the ones that are truly transformative and life changing to spend your hard earned money on to experience. One festival that has truly embodies all of the beautiful and exemplary qualities of the modern music festival is Shambhala Music Festival, which takes place on the Salmo River Ranch in British Columbia, Canada from August 7-10 2015.
Shambhala is one of our very favorite festivals here at Sensible Reason for many reasons. Firstly this festival is the definition of a grassroots event. What started out as an intimate gathering of a paltry 500 attendees has grown into a annual gathering that amassed 11,000 last year in it’s 17th year. This amazing festival has grown mostly due to word of mouth and dedicated revelers who return every year with an even larger brood. Secondly Shambhala is a festival deeply rooted in the community as well as dedicated to promoting free creativity therefore this is one of the few festivals that I know that takes no corporate sponsorship in order to cultivate a truly liberated and holistic environment. Shambhala is leading the way in radical methods that will hopefully shape the future of music festivals in North America. From festival safe areas like the Sanctuary, where campers can enjoy a non-judgmental oasis to receive support, the Women’s Safe Haven, which provides crisis support for all women who may need it, Camp Clean Beats which is a sober camp zone for all campers who seek that option and the festivals concerted effort to remain green and sustainable, Shambhala truly goes the extra mile to create a place that is as close to paradise as possible.
Finally the last two reasons we love this festival so much is the amazing setting that Shambhala takes place in every year and the phenomenal lineup they always bring. Shambhala has consistently taken place at Salmo River Ranch since its inception, the festival has been able to grow exponentially in terms of its production level, resulting in top-notch intricate stage designs. Shambhala boasts six completely unique stages that have their own flair and theme to them;Pagoda, The Village, Fractal Forest, The Living Room, The Amphitheatre and The Grove. Each stage is curated individually showcasing certain types of genres throughout the amazing weekend. Shambhala has also pulled out all the stops this year with one of the largest lineups that you will see anywhere with huge names like; Pretty Lights, Skrillex, Excision, Tipper, Datsik, Bonobo, Claude Vonstroke, Liquid Stranger, Griz, Mr. Carmack and Kygo, just to name a few of the heavy hitters.
