Shpongled by the Shpongletron 3.1 at the Concord Music Hall 3.28.15
Shpongle decided to Shpongle the Concord Music Hall in Chicago Illinois, where you better have as much money for parking or simply driving as the ticket for any event itself. The Concord is a 300 person venue that is a healthy walk from downtown, an unhealthy one if it’s anytime before March and after October.
This show initiated the last leg of the tour with Phutureprimitive. Zebbler was running the Shpongletron 3.1, 3d projection mapping wizardry, for Simom Posford’s (Shpongle) Set, Phutureprimitive got a
decent light show as well, which is rare for an opener. He was also playing this impressive contraption that was, in essence, a circular midi board, or a basketball shaped bass machine. It made for some very entertaining beat construction as well as an unexpected focal point for his set. A part of me wanted to see him throw it into the crowd to see what kind of madness would come through the speakers.
Among all of the madness Simon Posford (Shpongle) dropped a new song, but if you have his application which is only $2 a month then you have probably heard it before. What else does this application entail? It entails live streams of every show, his whole collection of work INCLUDING all unreleased tracks, and a chance to video chat with Posford himself. There is a labyrinth of other strains of entertainment to interact with as well. Watch the video below to hear it explained from the creator himself.
Now for what you’ve really been waiting for, the photographs from Shpongle and the Shpongletron 3.1 at the Concord Music Hall. The tour will fade out on the east coast with four more stops including Washington D.C., Boston MA, New York NY, and Philadelphia PA. Don’t miss those east coast dates to catch your last dose of Simon and Phutureprimitive before festival season.
