Skin Refinery Owner Sought White Supremacist Group to Kill Gay Rival
Dawn DaLuise, who runs Skin Refinery, a salon that has attracted celebrities, appeared before a preliminary hearing on Monday for having attempted to contact a white supremacist group to have her “double minority, Mexican gay” rival killed. Gabriel Suarez set up shop close to DaLuise’s Skin Refinery in West Hollywood, and clearly his establishment, Smooth Cheeks, seemed like dangerous competition to the skin-care moghul.
DaLuise then tried to make it seem that Suarez was cyberstalking her, when in actuality she was being stalked by a friend, Edward Feinstein, whom she sent messages to about Suarez. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff, Feinstein allegedly passed out flyers with a sexually explicit picture of DaLuise’s face with her home address and phone number, as well as making Craigslist ads pretending that DaLuise wanted to act out a rape fantasy. DailyMail alleges that DaLuise originally believed Suarez was behind the act, reasoning that her murder plot was for her and her family’s safety.
Detective Steven McCauley testified that he interviewed several men who DaLuise contacted to kill her competitor. KTLA recorded McCauley’s testimony, with the detective stating “She asked [one of the men] if he could get her in contact with a white supremacist group, and the phrase from that point was, in essence, to find somebody to take out a ‘double minority, Mexican gay.” A judge then ruled there was enough evidence to bring DaLuise to trial on one count of solicitation of murder.
If convicted, DaLuise faces up to nine years in prison, and is currently being held on bail for one million dollars. DaLuise is due back in court on July 7th.
Dawn DaLuise, as reported by DailyMail on her now defunct site, states she moved to California to pursue a modeling career. Having experienced sun-damaged skin herself, DaLuise enrolled in beauty school and began treating clients in the 1990s with electrical muscle stimulation rather than the standard treatments.
