Snails’ Freaky Deaky After Party Brought Special Guest
Freaky Deaky was one of the biggest and most memorable Midwest Halloween events this year. With a lineup that beat anything within 50 miles, React Presents brought the best of the best in local and international electronic and hip-hop acts. Snails played the Shrine stage during the festival and brought what can only be described as hardcore, slow motion, dub-metal. Complete with mosh pits and lots of headbanging, it was a mystery as to where his after party would end up. He played his after party at the beloved Concord Music Hall, a favorite of those who love to dance.
Immediately after Freaky Deaky’s end for Saturday, the Concord was filling with ragers looking to get “Snailed.” Soon after the first opener, the heat in the room began to grow. Sweat was pouring from the walls as well as each person in attendance. One could feel the heat before even getting to the top of the stairs at the venue. Once Snails entered the stage, there was no turning back. Immediately, the “vomitstep” engulfed the room, and it was gorgeously filthy. It was one of the harder sets we’ve heard from Snails so far, filthy, fast, bass-filled, and hyphy. The visuals on stage were trippy as well with Snails-themed Space Invaders, pixelated and destroying space ships one vomit at a time. Of course, Snails came out the victor and all ended right with the world. Those on the upper level of the dance floor raged so hard, they took the railing in front of them, shaking with all their might. The railing waved back and forth with such intensity it looked dangerous.
As if the entire scene wasn’t crazy enough, Ookay made a special appearance with his buddy Snails to play his newest single “Thief,” which has taken the electronic world by storm. The two of them closed out the night with a family photo, enthusiastically yelling to the crowd that they “just got Snailed.” Both the festival and the after party were a blast, and Snails wouldn’t want it any other way.
