Sprocket Rising Steadily Through Jam Tiers
Brooklyn-based improvisational rock quartet Sprocket has been tirelessly toiling to raise their profile in the New York City jam scene and beyond. This past weekend found the group at Rock & Roll Resort upstate, but before that the band finally got a chance to strut their stuff on the city’s most coveted stage at Brooklyn Bowl. Part of a Tuesday triple bill, nominally headlined by The Mantras, Sprocket managed to steal some thunder with the largest and most raucous crowd of the night grooving to a three song set comprised entirely of original compositions and patient technically proficient musical interludes. The next gigs on the Sprocket docket are at Moondance Music Festival in New Jersey this Saturday, and on July 4 at Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago, as one of many shows scheduled in conjunction with the Grateful Dead 50th anniversary celebration. They will likely pop up somewhere in the New York City area prior to that. In the meantime, listen to their Brooklyn Bowl debut.
