SR Track of the Day: To The Top – TOO MANY ZOOZ
The New York City subways have never sounded so good. Take the visceral energy of electronic dance music or even heavy metal, re-contextualize it into a squealing barrage of an intense funk-jazz jam session, and you may get close to TOO MANY ZOOZ. Impressively conjuring a wall of sound that could easily knock over small children with just 3 musicians (trumpet, drums and baritone saxophone), these street performers may not be playing for change in the Union Square subway for too much longer. Each musician is unrelentingly talented at their craft, which allows them to make some shocking and energetic brass and woodwind sound manipulations while putting on a wildly entertaining live show.
Artists and talented people of all kinds are getting noticed and jumpstarting their careers through Reddit, and TOO MANY ZOOZ joins the plethora of talents who have greatly benefited from the exposure. In only a few days, the trio has gone from 1,000 to over 11,000 Facebook likes (and counting), mostly due to a video posted of them performing in the Union Square subway station. They certainly deserve it. Watch TOO MANY ZOOZ performing “To The Top” and more off their EP F Note below, and keep an ear out while traveling the subways in NYC.
