SR Track of the Day: I Wish – Ellen Allien

Guided by her experiences in post-wall Germany, Ellen Allien fuses her cultural identity with her distinctive techno and message of peace and freedom. Her first two albums Stadtkind (2001) and Berlinette (2003) reveal this unique character and persona. Ranging from tragically beautiful electro to dark, complicated tech house, Ellen achieves a unique aesthetic through her technological innovation. A leader and collaborator, Ellen founded the successful BPtich Control Records in 1999 and worked with Apparat for Orchestra of Bubbles (2006). Constantly experimenting, Ellen’s most recent project was LISm:  a daring, abstract sonic venture using music she composed for a dance performance at Paris’ Pompidou Centre in 2011.

“I Wish, off Berlinette, showcases Ellen’s angelic voice, signature tech beats, versatile instrumentation, and overarching sense of world peace.
