3 Nights of STS9: An Epic New Year’s Adventure
STS9 is throwing a three-night music extravaganza at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, Colorado to celebrate “a new dawn, a new day”…the beginning of 2015. The legendary band will officially ring in the New Year with their show on December 31, 2014, then they will start 2015 out right with two more shows on January 2nd and 3rd.
With a full three nights to play a year’s worth of material, we can only speculate which favorites from all eras will be played during the three night Fillmore run. The band created a lot of buzz earlier this year when they announced they would be playing an ‘Axe the Cables’ set at their two night Red Rocks run in September. ‘Axe the Cables’ is comprised of mostly acoustic performances, which represent an older era of Tribe music. The band has also been reaching out to their fans in recent months to ask which old material they would like to be played.
[Personally, I’ve been waiting to hear “We’ll Meet in our Dreams” live since I discovered the band about five years ago. I’ve seen the band over 20 times, but have yet to witness that song. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for it to make an appearance during the three-night NYE run…]
In addition to asking for fan input, the band has become notorious for a number of things, including heavy tour schedules and epic New Years Eve Parties. While they have played multiple New Years runs and several times at the Fillmore, this will be STS9’s first time to play a NYE run at the Fillmore with bassist Alana Rocklin.
Rocklin has been touring with STS9 since her official debut as the band’s bassist at McDowell Mountain Music Festival in April. The woman has become a huge asset to Tribe with her fierce groove and electric onstage energy. I caught her during Tribe’s set at The Hudson Project in July and can’t wait to see how she has grown with the band in the last few months.
It’s no surprise that the ultimate VIP passes, regular three day passes and several single day passes for Tribe’s three night NYE run a the Fillmore in Denver have already sold out through the band’s online store. All remaining tickets are available through LiveNation.
