STS9 Reach New Heights As The Apo11o Tour Touched Down At Brooklyn Mirage
As summer drew to a close, Brooklyn’s premier dance music destination continued to draw crowds with expertly crafted curation. Departing from previous lineups largely consisting of house and techno artists, the Brooklyn Mirage launched into an exploration of the jam scene with STS9 guiding attendees through a journey of light and sound. As promised in their Apo11o Tour announcement, the live-tronica band took the crowd “where no sectornaut has gone before.” The groundbreaking collective seems to effortlessly raise the bar of their live shows and continue to distinguish themselves as industry innovators.
The band entranced the crowd with an ethereal intro rendition of “Modular,” providing a smooth takeoff into their first set consisting of long-time favorites and a new track titled “Push the Sky.” After launching sectornauts into a galactic musical expedition, STS9 kept the interplanetary party grooving with an energetic second set that included a riveting “Rabble,” otherworldly “Scheme,” and an uplifting “Click Lang Echo.” They ended their stellar performance with “Inspire Strikes Back,” an epic and triumphant encore that served as a proper celebration of man’s first landing on the moon, along with the band’s first landing at Brooklyn’s premier outdoor venue. It was seminal moment in the band’s legendary history, as the band pushed the full audiovisual capabilities of The Brooklyn Mirage to the limit.
Combining my favorite band with one of my favorite venues, this highly anticipated production upheld and surpassed my expectations for a remarkable night. As longtime witnesses to Sound Tribe’s extraordinary talent and incredible synergy, I knew what I was in for — but not entirely. For this particular show, my brother and I had decided to extend our Tribe family to include our actual family, offering two older generations a taste of my beloved music scene for the very first time. The slight uncertainty regarding the event’s family-friendliness quickly dissipated as the band took control of the room. We claimed our space among the crowd, grandfather and mother absolutely crushing it on the dance floor alongside two sons and daughter-in-law, and took off to a place our family had not gone before.
