Yoga by Moonlight: A Sundown Yoga Playlist
“I have been a seeker and I still am, but I stopped asking the books and the stars. I started listening to the teaching of my Soul.” — Rumi
A few weeks ago, I shared a morning flow playlist to get you moving on those mornings when you would rather just hit the snooze button a couple more times, so today I wanted to balance it out with a moon salutations yoga playlist designed to guide you through a relaxing practice to unwind and chill out. After a long day, it is always tempting to walk through the door, sink into the couch with a bag of Cape Cods, and let the Seinfeld reruns roll until you pass out, but if you can make it to your mat instead, I can guarantee you will find a deeper relaxation that will prepare you for a peaceful night’s sleep and an energized morning.
For a nighttime yoga practice, you can incorporate twists, forward folds and hip openers, moving slowly and mindfully through transitions, and breathing deeply into each pose to release any tensions in the shoulders, hips and hamstrings that have built up throughout the day. This 60 minute playlist was designed to come alongside you in your quest for relaxation with a mix of chilled out acoustic tracks from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Foy Vance, and Beck, and trance-y electronic beats from Hiatus Kaiyote, and The Album Leaf. I closed the mix out with an atmospheric instrumental from the Starman himself, David Bowie. It seemed only appropriate to let Bowie guide us to space for a transcendental Savasana this week.
So roll out your mat, light some candles, burn a nag champa, and get blissed with this 60 minute sundown yoga playlist.
