Sunsquabi Releases Funky New EP Entitled ‘Deluxe’
Following in the funky footsteps of their All Good Records label head, Colorado trio Sunsquabi have cultivated a rampant following. Thanks to their groundbreaking live act that fuses elements of electro-funk and performance components of a jam band, Sunsquabi has broken into the world of jam-tronica with a head of steam. Ready to unveil the band’s next chapter, Sunsquabi has now released a brand new EP entitled Deluxe.
Their Sophomore EP and second full-length effort under GRiZ’s All Good Records, Deluxe hears Sunsquabi build upon Odyssey — the band’s 2016 debut EP. After joining forces with the likes of Big Gigantic and All Good shot-caller GRiZ, Sunsquabi continue their litany of star-studded collabs with tastemakers Russ Liquid and Late Night Radio jumping in on Deluxe.
Sunsquabi showcase some major strides forward with huge new tracks like the funkalicious Russ Liquid collab “Pygmy Up” and the insanely soulful tune “Cinnamon,” which features Late Night Radio. Fans of the classic Sunsquabi sound will find a quick favorite with laid-back funk production “Dexter” feat. Nick Gerlach, and looking toward the future of the band, check out the Ratatat inspired Deluxe, whose instrumental composition draws from psychedelic rock and organic instrumentation. The EP’s biggest highlights, in my opinion, are the band’s solo tracks. The triumphant title track “Deluxe“ is going to be a huge festival banger this summer and blissfully groovy tune “Daydream” is full of positive vibes.
Now that the EP has been released, Sunsquabi is wasting no time taking their music on the road with their 18-city tour in support of the record, as well as a EP release party in Denver which you can relive via video stream here. Catch the guys live coast to coast — playing cities from NYC to Las Vegas — and hitting music festivals Summer Camp and Werk Out as well. In addition, Sunsquabi will be returning to their hometown stomping grounds, Red Rocks Amphitheater, on May 6 for highly anticipated show with Papadosio. As for what to expect from the live show, Sunsquabi have enlisted Tucker Wilde’s Stage Dynamics to build out a full-stage production. As we wait until Sunsquabi hits a stage near us, be sure to check out the brand new EP, Deluxe, out now via All Good.
