The Good, The Bad, and The Awkward – Your Sunday Evening News
Coachella Weekend 1:
The talk of the weekend has been Coachella across the board! With a handful of special appearances and social media coverage rampant, there’s little else to talk about when it comes to music this weekend. Diddy hopped on stage with Nas and Jay-Z, Beyoncé obviously tagged along, and Gwen Stefani even made a cameo. One lucky carpool to the festival won VIP passes for life, and the awesomeness was all posted on their Twitter page.

Electric Daisy Carnival UK:
Insomniac just announced their lineup for their 2014 edition of Electric Daisy Carnival. They’ve upped the ante by adding another day, and the CircuitGROUNDSstage presented by HARD. The new stage is scheduled to include A-Trak, Jack Beats Dillon Francis, and more. Avicii, Steve Angello, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, and Paul Oakenfold hold the stage for Saturday, and Sunday should be equally as awesome with Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, and Laidback Luke!
Disclosure’s “The Mechanism”:
Guy and Howard Lawrence continue to do what they love, and everyone loves what they do. After working with Lorde, London Grammar, Sam Smith and Mary J. Blige, they’ve come together with Friend Within for their latest “The Mechanism.” The song has heavy wobbles and a house beat that screams Disclosure. Fans will be grooving, moving, and shaking to “The Mechanism.”
Return of Mad Men:
AMC’s first series is coming to a close. While it’s not the first show that AMC has ended, with Breaking Bad finishing its final season in September, it was the first of an amazing array of series on AMC. Hailed as one of the best shows on television with phenomenal acting, beautiful costumes, and cinematic quality equal to any Oscar-worthy film, its 7th and final season has its opener tonight at 10PM Eastern/9PM Central on AMC.
Eastern Ukraine Conflict Continues:
Violence and general unrest continues in Ukraine as its president pledged a full scale anti-terrorist operation against pro-Russian fighters. Official buildings have been taken over, and Russia has warned that any force will hurt negotiations later in the week. Check out What You Need To Know for the full back story.
Fire in Chile:
10,000+ people have been evacuated from their homes in Valparaiso, Chile as a forest fire has threatened the area and destroyed homes since Saturday. With Valparaiso near the coast, the Pacific Ocean winds have greatly hindered the battle to maintain the flames. There have been a reported 11 deaths so far, and those who have returned to their homes have found little more than wreckage. The battle continues as the fire spreads toward the center of the city, making the evacuation at a dangerous scale.
UN Warns About Carbon Emissions:
It always seems as though governments, scientists, and various other officials come out with huge reports that basically tell us what we already know. The part of it is that even though they speak common knowledge, it doesn’t become such until said report is released. Well, the UN finally got together with scientists and released a 33-page study stating that the world needs to get its act together and stop using fuels that create such high carbon emissions. Hopefully now things will start to change, and “going green” stops being a dying fad.
MTV’s Latest True Life:
MTV tries its hardest to keep with the times, and since the rise of EDM, they want to go ahead and capitalize on dance music’s “favorite” drug and the overall stupidity of anyone who still watches MTV. The network has posted a tweet stating that they are looking for people “addicted” to Molly to showcase in their latest True Life series. IQ point may drop when the episode finally airs, but it may be a train wreck worth watching?
Deadmau5 Posts Another Coffee Run:
This time with Tycho, Deadmau5 goes on another coffee run. This time it’s 43 minutes of the usual. While somewhat entertaining, these coffee runs are extremely awkward. The viewer is forced to sit through various road blocks, annoying drivers, and general frustrations of driving a sports car in the city, while watching Joel Zimmerman attempt to carry on an impromptu interview with someone. According to his Twitter page, Deadmau5 is soon to have another post up of his coffee run with Eric Prydz. Watch the one with Tycho below.
Rob Ford, Again?:
The ever entertaining Toronto Mayor, Rob Ford, has been in the news for way too long, but it’s a train wreck we love to hear about. He’s been in trouble for drunken fights and overall stupidity, he’s admitted to using drugs, and he’s not very well liked among the city council members. Well, as candidates attempt to oust the infamous politician, a poll has recently said that his re-election is somehow still a possibility. Good luck, Toronto.
