The Motet And Friends Take Red Rocks In Less Than A Month
Summer concert venues just do not get any better than Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and lineups do not get much better than the mashup of The Motet with Medeski Martin & Wood and Vulfpeck.
With a stage set amidst a geological wonderland created by Mother Nature herself, one would be hard-pressed to find a more picturesque location to dance the night away under the stars with their favorite band. For many artists, landing a gig at Red Rocks is the ultimate mission. The towering rocks have served as ground zero for some of music’s most memorable moments: U2’s unforgettable “Sunday Bloody Sunday” video from their 1983 Under the Blood Red Sky Tour, Dave Matthews Band’s Live at Red Rocks album, Radiohead’s stop in 2003, countless memorable Grateful Dead shows. The venue has hosted everyone from Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles to John Denver and Mary Garden. It is no wonder that the magical venue continues to draw crowds from around the country to see the biggest and best names in music, year after year.
This summer’s lineup brings multi-night runs from Widespread Panic (6/24-26), Umphrey’s McGee (7/2-3), LCD Soundsystem (8/2-3), and The String Cheese Incident (7/15-17), as well as headlining sets from Blues Traveler (7/4), Sufjan Stevens (7/18), Greensky Bluegrass (7/23), Tedeschi Trucks Band (8/5), and many more.
Sometimes, though, the music gods unleash their power to bring together an unstoppable lineup and places it right in the most beautiful venue in the country, and that is exactly what happened when it was announced that The Motet would be headlining a show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 22nd with help from avant-jazz-funk pioneers Medeski Martin & Wood, and everyone’s favorite funk nerds, Vulfpeck.
In less than a month, The Motet will be playing their first headlining show at the Rocks. This year also marks Medeski Martin & Wood’s 25th Anniversary, so there will be extra festive moments and special guests throughout the night. The Motet announced earlier this week that Natalie Cressman, trombone player for Trey Anastasio Band, Paul Creighton, and Tanya Shylock will be sitting in for the party.
You can pick up your tickets to be a part of this insane night of music, and check out the rest of the summer schedule, by visiting the Official Red Rocks Amphitheatre website.
