TICKET GIVEAWAY: Lotus to Play at The Space at Westbury on January 25
Lotus will be performing at The Space at Westbury, supported by The Werks, on January 25. The 5 piece live electronica band is famous in the scene for its light shows and jam sessions that weave continuous improvisation throughout their songs. Lotus recently released a new hip hop album Monks on September 10. According to their website, “Instrumental interlude tracks push into more experimental to create cinematic vignettes. [Producer/bassist] Jesse Miller states, ‘For the interludes, we went toward funk and jazz influenced beat music. Off-time drum beats, analog synthesizers, tape echo machines and even a baritone guitar were used to record these short evocative set pieces.'” The album is available on BandCamp for the price you name with no minimum. The Space is Long Island’s freshest venue that will be bringing in a great lineup of artists to the area. Great bands and producers such as Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Galactic, Trombone Shorty, Shpongle (Simon Potsford), and even Gavin Degraw, not to mention great comedians like Tracy Morgan and Joy Mohr, will all be brought across the bridges and tunnels of NYC to Long Island. The Space is just a 40 minute train ride from Penn Station and conveniently located just a short walk from the LIRR Westbury station, so it’s just a quick and easy trip for our city friends. For those of us who live on Long Island, this is a great spot to experience fresh music right on our home turf. Be sure to check out The Space’s website and Facebook page.
