TOTD: Cocovan – “Summer Nights”
Parisian starlet Cocovan knows how to enchant me. From her angelic voice to her own brand of glam pop that deserves a place among mainstream artists, this rising songstress is clamoring for a spotlight in the music industry. Previously, Cocovan won me over with her Robyn-esque dance-pop anthem, “Chic (Someone to Love).” Now, Cocovan has anchored herself to the dance floor with “Summer Nights.”
Summertime conjures up a powerful image — many of my favorite songs detail a beautiful and chaotic romance during a seasonably warm time. Johnnyswim’s “Summertime Romance,” Dannii Minogue’s “You Won’t Forget About Me,” these tunes invoke a loyalty to a blissful summer where love is shared and felt. Granted, we are enduring winter here in the States, Cocovan has cemented herself as a pop artist whose talent and songwriting capture an emotive response by ushering in a familiar sound.
Through her lyricism, I find myself falling in love with the concept of love. By mentioning summertime romance, it allows my mind to travel back to moments to when I met my significant others and indulged in a dose of happiness. With the production and notes Cocovan hits, it rivals that of Kygo’s “Firestone.” Let Cocovan take you to another time and place, where dream pop reigns supreme and love conquers all.
