TOTD: JOHNNYSWIM – “Take The World”
Have you ever been moved by music? I mean, not just by the way the music is construed or the lyrical content. I’m talking about the emotion expressed; the kind where your heart soars and you get a sense of knowing it is a piece of you. Every time I play this particular song, I find that the husband-and-wife duo, JOHNNYSWIM, capture that moment perfectly. “Take the World” is one of my favorite songs; from the way it starts, dazzling listeners with Amanda Sudano‘s vocals while Abner Ramirez thoughtfully strums his guitar. While the pair play off each other’s verses, even joining together on the chorus, I can’t help but feel it was meant for a movie, the kind where after meeting your true love, you effortlessly ride on a wave of euphoria and into eternal bliss.
It is often hard to come across well-written love songs, even when singer-songwriters present the best. Yet here it was, settled underneath Sudano and Ramirez’s joint partnership. The two make love feel like a fairy tale high, and that together, everything seems possible. And I suppose that is what a relationship should strive for, not just love, but the hope and potential of everything good that two can be.
