TOTWM Music Shares His Vision With Latest Release “24 Hours”
TOTWM Music is the solo project of electronic musician Peter Markham. Peter releases TOTWM Music releases under his label TOTWM Entertainment. By blending EDM production techniques with timeless musical influences, TOTWM Music has created an exciting sound for himself. As a dedicated fan of both electronic dance music and classic 90’s hip-hop, Markham attempts to mix and match the best of both worlds. Drawing inspiration from dance music icons like Deadmau5, Bassnectar, Steve Aoki and Daft Punk, Markham is a forward thinking producer who also appreciates the artistry of Tupac and Biggie. Markham’s love for various types of sounds is on full display throughout his latest single “24 Hours.”
Fresh from Markham’s new EP entitled EP1, the quirky lead single “24 Hours” is a perfect display of TOTMW Music’s eclectic style. Plucky and progressive, “24 Hours” ventures into a wide array of genres that certainly keeps the listener guessing. You can pick up elements of Markham’s various inspirations. We can grasp pieces of big room house, hip-hop and bass music. Vocal samples attempt to give the track an airy vibe during the breakdown in the song’s latter half, but there’s just so much going on in this track it’s hard to pick out one crucial aspect.
Explaining his varied approach to production Markham said, “I have no rule of thumb when it comes to making a track, I could go in set on making an EDM song and it could turn into an even better hip/hop beat. The point is, producing music is like making a puzzle but you piece it together how you want. More or less you’re a conductor of sound, introducing new layers bit by bit, creating something people can enjoy listening to.
While “24 Hours” is definitely a bold effort on Markham’s part the varied nature of this tune makes it a bit too convoluted. Markham needs to designate exactly what type of essence he is trying to capture and concentrate on fleshing that out more.
