Track of the Day: Kylie Minogue – “All I See”
It’s going to shock some Kylie fans but I love this song and not as a joke, “All I See” is one of my favorite tracks. From its R&B tinge to the acoustic version that was a treat for fans who enjoyed the early shows of KylieX2008, it’s a cute and fun song. A rehearsal video showed Kylie and her band rehearsing the track, giving the song a softer side. Delivering the same notes accompanied by a guitar, the song changes — and all for one of the better acoustic songs she’s done. With the original version, the song is light and airy. The sweetness and melodic nature of it makes it feel like you’re waiting for someone to come take you out for a date. And that’s part of the charm of why it’s high on my list. I’m a sucker for love and love songs, and Kylie Minogue delivers it all.
X, Minogue’s tenth album, was released in 2007 and was her first in four years after her battle with breast cancer. The album, a concoction of various synthpop, electronica, R&B and one ballad had fans curious as to how the album came to be. Prior to the release, many demos leaked — with some surfacing later on the album and then as bonus tracks — with some declaring the album a mess due its track listing. The album contained many gems (“In My Arms,” “The One”, “Like A Drug”) and even held a song or two pertaining to her health crisis (“No More Rain,” “Cosmic”). While “All I See” may not be at top of everyone’s list, it’s an enjoyable song.
Fun fact: The video was filmed entirely on a cellphone while on break from tour, and features dancer/DJ Marco Da Silva.
