Track of the Day: “Hexeract” – Skytree ft. DVS* & Supersillyus
Today’s track of the day takes us into nature with a cut off Skytree‘s collaborative album, Cirrus Sapiens, which was released in late May of this year and features Space Jesus, Esseks, Technicolor Lenses, and more. NYC-based artist Skytree (Evan Snyder) doesn’t just create music; he builds moods. Juxtaposing ancient and modern sounds he develops soundscapes that feel as if they’ve grown out of the earth or fallen out of the sky, or as he puts it, “sounds generated by resonant trees, melting through the sun” (Soundcloud). If you want to take your mind on a journey, give this track your attention all the way through.
The psychedelic “Hexeract” is a double-edged musical piece. Fading in with ambient crackles, the first half of the track is strongly commanded by a clean, robotic, yet tribal-sounding style, revealing more of Supersillyus‘ influence. As “Hexeract” glides into its latter half, DVS* shines. The song takes a celestial turn, moving in an out of guitar samples by DVS* while maintaining the overarching pace, and finally fading out into the crackling ambience once again.
