Track of the Day – Virus Syndicate – “Worker Bees” feat. Buku
Everyone has their favorite (and least favorite) genre of music. We’re wired to like different things and music is a pure example of that. But, it also seems that there are universal enjoyments brought on by all genres, regardless of whether you truly enjoy it. For example, there is something special about belting out the chorus of an annoying (or catchy) pop song or the soothing feeling you get from reading to classical music. There’s also a universal feeling of badass-ness when you’re riding in a car with the windows down and the bass up. Sure it’s obnoxious, but only if you’re not in the car!
Today’s track of the day comes from Virus Syndicate, a British “grime collective” from Manchester. The group of MC’s incorporate glitch hop, dubstep, and heavy bass with their gritty freestyle raps. Their track “Worker Bees” feat. Buku from their The Swarm Deluxe LP has bass that can be felt from a mile away. Grannys all over the country will be angrily calling in noise complaints when your subwoofer gets a hold of this track. The way each rapper chimes in and out throughout this track is reminiscent of the best rap groups around: creating a cohesive piece with the bass unparalleled, craving to be cranked.
Virus Syndicate’s The Swarm Deluxe LP includes 19 original tracks with collaborations alongside Buku, DJ Muggs, Savant, and Skism. It will be available for purchase in the U.S. for the first time December 15th. Check it out on SoundCloud now!
