Track of the Day: “Hypnotik” – Keys N Krates
Trap is a musical epidemic welcomed by some and hated by others, but it’s here to stay for a while, and “I Just Can’t Deny” Keys N Krates does it right. See what I did there? Today’s track of the day is “Hypnotik” off Keys N Krates’ latest EP, Every Nite; you can read our full review of it here. To match the moniker, this track is trance-like. One of the more upbeat songs on the EP, “Hypnotik” has more of a sultry swagger, filled with intense drops and more gentle builds. With this cut, Keys N Krates explores the mellow bounds somewhere along hip-hip, house, and trap while still maintaining their knack for bangers sure to amp up any crowd.
Keys N Krates isn’t just another artist who makes trap music, but they definitely know how to inject the right elements of modern music into their work. Made up of drummer Adam Tune, synth/keyboardist David Matissa, and internationally award-winning turntablist Jr. Flo, Keys N Krates’ live shows are the only medium to truly do them justice. Their whole show is live, using only drums, keys, turntables and live sampling. Sampling all things from classic music to Timbaland, this live electronic trio takes electronic music in their own direction and keeps on running, to the beat of course.
