Trombone Shorty Hits Terminal 5, 12/13 & 12/14!
Troy Andrews, otherwise known as Trombone Shorty, is one of those musicians who makes you wonder how the heck he does it all. It seems as though he is perpetually on tour, hitting a different city each day of the year, while still managing to make a difference in his hometown of New Orleans. This weekend, he’ll be hitting NYC for a two-night run at Terminal 5 on 12/13 and 12/14, and it’s gonna get funky.
Trombone Shorty is an extremely talented jazz/funk/hip hop trombone player and composer who was a bandleader in his hometown in New Orleans when he was just six years old. From there, he went on to be a member of the Stooges Brass Band, and eventually play with such influential musicians as U2 and Lenny Kravitz. He’s performed at the White House and won awards left and right. On top of all of this, his Trombone Shorty Foundation plays an instrumental (pun intended) role in perpetuating music education in the New Orleans school system. Could he be any more awesome?
His shows are always high energy and an experience not to be missed, with various funky takes on covers as well as originals. Check him out in this short clip below, but trust when I say a video couldn’t do this guy justice. Tickets are still on sale for both nights — get ’em here and here!
