Tycho at Emo’s in Austin, TX
San Francisco native Scott Hansen, better known as Tycho will return to Austin this Saturday, September 20th, 2014. Hansen and his touring bandmates were just in the ATX in May at a much smaller venue where they played two sold out shows.
This Saturday they will perform at Emo’s, a much larger venue, with Christopher Willits. Willits has a similarly downtempo, atmospheric sound and is sure to open the show with the same pensive vibe audiences love from Tycho.
Tycho has garnered much acclaim this year, although his rise in popularity has been steady since the release of his 2002 EP The Science of Patterns and the 2004 full length album that followed, Sunrise Projector. His most recent album, Awake, was released in 2014 and reached 23rd on the US Billboard charts, no small feat for a musician with such a distinct and alternative sound.
Indeed Tycho has been a key player in the mass-adoption of more chill electronic music. His albums are appreciated by many; one of the obvious traits of the performance in May was the varied collection of individuals who came to dance, space-out and ultimately enjoy the one-of-a-kind live show that Hansen and his bandmates produce. Tycho is one of the few acts that seems to bring together so many kinds of people people united by a single love for this exceptional, dreamlike music.
Tickets are already on sale for this show at Emo’s East on E. Riverside in Austin, TX for September 20th. Tickets should also be available at the door if they don’t sell out prior to the show date. If you’re not in Austin, don’t fret! The tour has only just begun.
