The Weekly LGBTQ News: Issue #18
Anti-gay Virginia-based group, Family Foundation has officially begun their 40 day fast to influence the Supreme Court in rejecting same-sex marriage when hearings begin later this year. The group mentioned that participants don’t actually have to fast, but that “feeding on the spiritual food” is enough. A faux prescription was drawn up as well as a video (see above) to promote the 40 day fast that’ll end on the 5th of October when the appeals begin. The video asks for everyone across the nation to join them to “purify [their] way of thinking and cleanse [their] way of living.”
San Diego City Attorney’s Office has charged an HIV positive man, Thomas Guerra, for knowingly and willingly infecting up to two dozen other men. One of the men provided authorities with records of text messages that could coerce prosecutors into changing the misdemeanor into a felony, punishable by up to eight years in prison. The original man who filed the complaint against Guerra was on the verge of proposing until he was informed by a former lover of Guerra’s. The second man found Guerra’s intentions when browsing his texts which included giving several men “positive loads” and bragging about it. The city attorney’s office has stated they will continue to investigate the matter.
AMC’s hit zombie show, The Walking Dead is about to introduce a gay character – probably. While many LGBTQ individuals have been found in the comic series and the TellTale video game series, only one character has been acknowledged in the TV adaption. Many speculate that Norman Reedus’ character Daryl Dixon is the one to come out due to his lack of companionship with women. The creator of the zombie series has discussed that Daryl’s sexuality has come up but remains quiet about what’s to come this season. One of the producers for TWD has said if Daryl’s sexuality is unaddressed, they’ll more than likely introduce other LGBTQ characters.
