Wicklow Atwater Release New Album “The Fallen Flame String Band”
I don’t know if it’s the change of the season or perhaps just a need I have to hear something completely foreign, but recently, I’ve been searching for something of a sonic pallet cleanser. Luckily, I stumbled across a new sound that I never thought I could appreciate. In their latest album, The Fallen Flame String Band, Wicklow Atwater has provided that left-of-center style I’ve been looking for. This 17-track saga is distinctly American at its core.
Wicklow Atwater is a distinctly American folk band. In their lead single “Inside You,” this band demonstrate their infectious energy and blistering bravado. With tracks like “Gilberto Especial” and “Bottle of Wine”, this group has proven their ability to draw the listener in while maintaining their distinct. Authenticity and brashness is certainly the calling card of this exciting California-based band.
They formed and remain based in Atwater Village, Southern California. Being born and raised in the same neighborhood, all five members have been the best of friends since childhood, which has created an unbreakable bond that some describe as brotherhood. In turn, this has created a unique energy between the group that you can sense off and on stage. The tight-knit bond formed between the members of this west-coast group has certainly paid dividends.
Billy Lupton (Mandolin & Vocals), Nick Lupton (Guitar), Jessica Alvillar (Violin), Gilbert Montoya (Banjo & Vocals) and David Archey (Harmonica & Vocals), have forged a refreshingly singular essence that is clearly missing in today’s music scene. The ultimate goal of the band is simple, to serenade the nation and to live and experience the beauty that this country has to offer through touring and performing on road.
In a world dominated by futuristic sounds and sonic styles, Wicklow Atwater stand apart with their remarkably raw and rustic songs.
