Strong Female Leads at BUKU Music & Art Project
BUKU Music & Art Project awakens the senses. Visual art, performance art, music, and even great food all help BUKU become one of the most eclectic festivals on the circuit. Held in the cultural hub of New Orleans, the festival brings a huge variety to its lineup that everyone can enjoy. One aspect of the lineup we came to notice this year, the number of women listed as headliners. Out of the top 12 names listed on the BUKU website, 4 of them are solo females or have a strong female lead in the group. While that may only be 1/3 of the top artists listed, it is the most women listed that high up on the ticket since BUKU began in 2012. In fact, this is the most solo female headliners in BUKU history. Check all of the women listed so far (phase 3 lineup drops after the new year).

Most festivals, as well as the music industry in general, have a long way to go when it comes to having an even representation of women and men in their lineup. However, it is awesome to see more female names higher on the ticket as years progress. Women are letting their voices be heard, and these badass chicks are coming at you with a vengeance. Don’t miss these powerhouse acts at BUKU Music & Art Project March 9 & 10, 2018 at Mardi Gras World, NOLA.
